Day 10 – Drumming around the set

Day 5

Its been well over a week since my last post, and I had to put several TODOs on hold to get down to my drum set.  After discovering and fixing damage from a leak (luckily not over the kit) I spent a little less than an hour drumming before the Mrs. came home.

I spent today’s session re-watching some of MikesLessons in the background while I practiced rudiments and drumming around the set.  I know I need a lot of work on the basics, but playing on the set keeps me engaged.

Day 10 Summary

I was happy to see how much easier it was to keep up with Mike this pass.   I missed most of the content, but played along for a few sections, and mostly just played with rock beat variations.  Just trying all sorts of things all over the set. Toms, bass drum, crash symbol.  I made a few (weak) attempts at ghost notes and silent counts, but only made anything decent sounding by accident.

Day 10 Video

So, how well did MikesLessons teach me today? see the results for yourself in my video journal update ( i call it a journal, but I promise no feelings, I don’t even talk, just drumming!)
